• Mission Statement: It is the mission of DFRC to reduce the illegal use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in Randolph County through education, enforcement, treatment, prevention, and collaborating with other agencies. Through our comprehensive plan for the county, we will assess present efforts and develop programs to reduce abuse, providing encouragement to persons who seek help in reducing the impact of alcohol and other drug abuse in their lives.

• History:  Drug Free Randolph County‘s beginnings originate from the first Local Coordinating Council (Randolph County Mental Health Association) started in 1987.  At the time, the LCC met once a month for the sole purpose of deciding how to disperse funds.  The funds came from a state mandate that requires a portion of the substance abuse fines within the county to be set aside for the local coalition’s discretion.  Within the original framework, the funds were distributed equally to county entities within the following four categories:  Prevention/Education, Law Enforcement, Treatment, and Administration.  Though DFRC is still fortunate enough to receive these funds, the group that was once just an LCC is now so much more.
In January of 2006, Drug Free Randolph County, Inc. officially became a non-profit organization through the efforts of the coalition members.  Many of the members had a vision to see the coalition expand its purpose in order to create change within the county.  Since then, DFRC has developed a new structure of operation, rewritten the comprehensive plan to reflect a new vision and mission, increased membership, expanded partnerships, and applied for several grants to benefit youth and adults in the area.
